Tree Tenders Volunteer Training

Eleven hours of arboriculture training offered over three sessions. A combination of indoor and outdoor instruction

$35 per person (includes all three sessions) plus GST ($36.75 total)

This 11 hour training program is designed for individuals who want to gain tree-related knowledge and skills. If you have had some experience at tree planting or gardening, but want more in-depth training, this series is for you! Priority will be given to individuals already volunteering with a community group, the City or Toronto Region Conservation.

Topics to be covered include:
Tree biology and how trees function
Tree and shrub identification
The roles of soil and climate
Tree planting and establishment
Care and maintenance
Identifying and managing tree stresses
Recognizing health or disease issues

Resources and handouts will be provided. Resource manuals will be available for sale, but are not mandatory.

Todd Irvine, Education and Outreach Coordinator, LEAF, ISA certified arborist
Wendy Strickland, City Forestry, ISA certified arborist

Space is limited. Participants must be at least 18 years of age.
