LEAF is an incorporated, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the protection and improvement of the urban forest. We offer several programs and services for Toronto and are working with York Region to expand our services. We currently offer some services in the Town of Markham and the City of Vaughan.

Programs Offered in Toronto, Markham and Vaughan:

Our Backyard Tree Planting Program offers native trees and shrubs to property owners at a subsidized cost. Staff assists residents in making educated decisions about the type of tree that suits their property and where it should be planted. Since our first planting season in 1996, over 13,000 native trees and shrubs have been planted in backyards throughout the City of Toronto and Markham. This series of 10 factsheets is available free in electronic format.

Programs Offered Only in the City of Toronto:

Our workshops and educational talks cover a wide range of urban forest issues. Presentations, workshops and volunteer training sessions can be customized to meet your group's needs.

The Toronto Tree Tours are guided walks through your neighbourhood, for groups of 15 to 25 people that tell the fascinating stories of our city's trees and introduce participants to the benefits of the urban forest.

Our Tree Tenders Volunteer Training helps citizens become volunteers with the skills and knowledge to enact positive, immediate change for the urban forest in their own neighbourhood.  Be a Tree Tender.  Be part of the urban forest movement.

The Leslieville Tree Festival happens every summer in Leslie Grove Park, organized in partnership with the City of Toronto and local community groups. This family-oriented event offers a fun-filled way to learn about and celebrate our local urban forest. Music, food, story-tellers and local artists help bring the event to life.
